Large Boys Snow Bibs

Boys Snow Pants and Boys Snow Bibs are essentially the same thing. But if we want to get technical about it there is a difference. Snow pants are insulated pants (no bib) and snow bibs are insulated bib overall style pants. Still, we all use the word "snow pants" to mean the same thing as bib overall style pants- snow bibs. Having said that, we do have some pant style snow pants (no bib) available in some sizes for those who don't like bibs and straps.

Snow bibs are a good choice for very active boys as they are easier to move around in than bulky one piece snowsuits. A good pair of snow bibs worn with a layer of clothing underneath and a proper winter coat will provide the same sort of warmth that a one-piece snowsuit does.

Usually the shells are water-resistant nylon which are most appropriate for spending time in the snow. Most snow bibs for boys also have snow cuffs built in. These are handy for fitting over winter boots to keep the snow out. Most boys snow bibs zip up the middle and many also have pockets and an elastic waist. In boys size large 14-16 and larger sizes the snow bibs can get quite elaborate in their features, materials and design. Some will have extra panels in the knees and seat, articulated knees for snowboarding, removeable liners, hidden inner pockets, zips-off legs, zips in the cuffs and so on.

When sizing boys snow bibs measure the waist and inseam on a pair of regular pants that are fitting him perfectly. Then in snow bibs look for a size with a slightly larger waist and a similar or slightly shorter inseam. The advantage of having the adjustable overall straps on the snow bibs is that you can pull up or let down the pants as necessary for a good fit. Snow bibs with an inseam that is slightly shorter than regular pants will fit over the tops of winter boots and, using the adjustable straps, can be let down a bit as the boy grows. Try to avoid going too long in the legs. The cuffs should come over the tops of the boots but not anywhere near dragging on the ground under the heel. If the legs are a bit too long it's easy to raise up the pants by shortening the adjustable straps.
